We are delighted to have teamed up with Cherry Kids Club to produce a piece of artwork for the library. For a long time, the Hub team has wanted a fundraising barometer, so that the community can see how much money has been raised towards our £50,000 target. Our problem was that none of us has the artistic skills to make one!

Luckily, Trudy and Marianne at Cherry Kids Club have the skills, the ideas and the enthusiasm to create something much bigger, better and more beautiful than a boring old barometer!

Trudy, Marianne and the children will create a piece of community art that focuses on what’s important to the children of Cherry Hinton. This might include ducks, paddling pools, schools or skate ramps. Around that scene will be a Cherry Tree barometer. Blossoms and cherries will be added on as funds are donated.

The Hub team is very excited to see the artwork as it develops. Cherry Kids Club have previously created magnificent welcome banners for the Cherry Hinton Festival. We also have seen some of Marianne’s art and know that she is an extremely talented artist!

Trudy has been with the Kids Club since 2002 and has been the manager there since 2010. She said: “We’re glad to be back working with the community. After a very difficult couple of years it’s time for us to get back to normal and be involved with community projects. We’re really looking forward to working with the Hub team to create this artwork and help them with their fundraising.”

Trudy, Marianne and the children will be working on the display over the next few weeks and we will put it up in the window of Cherry Hinton library soon. We plan to display the artwork again in the new community café, once it opens.
