Library closure from 29th April 2023
It’s official! The Cherry Hinton Hub build begins in May!
Thank you to everyone who has been waiting with interest and much patience for this news.
The library will close on 29th April. We are liaising with Cambridgeshire Libraries about what provision is in place for you during the closure.
Book returns will be extended for you so there’s no rush to get books returned before the 29th April.
There will be a weekly mobile library visiting Cherry Hinton. Each vehicle carries up to 3,000 items of stock. This includes fiction, non-fiction, large print, books on CD and cassette, and children’s books.

You can request books online to collect from the mobile library. Any item borrowed from a mobile library can be returned to any other Cambridgeshire Library. Items borrowed from other libraries can also be returned to mobile libraries.
We will be able to provide more information on the mobile library visit in the next couple of weeks including the day, time, and location.
You can also explore nearby city library branches at Rock Road, Clay Farm, or Barnwell Road.
If you have any questions pop in for a chat with Smita and the Cherry Hinton Library team over the next couple of weeks.
When the hub build is finished we will have a modern, refurbished library as well as a café, meeting rooms, and garden. There’s so much to look forward to!
